Founded in 1938, the Ecole Suisse de Ski de Genève (or “ESS Genève”) is a not-for-profit association whose aim is to promote sport activities, train instructors and share our passion for snow sports and the mountains.
The Swiss Ski School of Geneva holds a Swiss Snowsports licence, the umbrella association of Swiss Ski Schools and applies all the techniques, pedagogical methods and administrative recommendations.
As a member of Swiss Snowsports, the Swiss Ski School of Geneva is committed to quality, safety and innovation. All classes prepare for the medals of the Swiss Snow League (ski and snowboard) and Kids Bike League (mountain bike).
The Swiss Ski School of Geneva team is made up of over 120 instructors holding recognised certifications (Swiss Snowsports and/or Jeunesse & Sport, etc.).
Each season at the Swiss Ski School of Geneva: more than 12’000 hours of ski/snowboard courses, 500 participants and 120 passionate instructors!
In recent years, however, the outlook for snowsports has darkened: schools are organising fewer snow classes, there are more and more leisure activities on offer and screens are taking up more and more time. As a result, the number of skier-days in Switzerland is plummeting.
With this in mind, we are keen to get the people of Geneva back on the slopes by offering them a complete infrastructure departing from Geneva.
With its strong roots in the local economy, the Swiss Ski School of Geneva selects as many of its suppliers as possible from the canton of Geneva and surroundings – all our activities take place in Switzerland.
Aware of the cost of skiing and snowboarding, the Swiss Ski School of Geneva is also behind a number of innovative projects:
Being aware that ski and snowboard lessons are not accessible to all budgets, the Swiss Ski School of Geneva has been organising ski and snowboard days for one symbolic franc since 2016. By increasing the number of partnerships and the search for sponsors and subsidies, hundreds of children who do not otherwise have the opportunity to ski have already been able to take part in these days. All the 1-franc days have always sold out very quickly, which is why the Swiss Ski School of Geneva has decided to move to 3 1-franc days per season instead of just one from 2024.
Since 2017-2018, the Swiss Ski School of Geneva has been bringing the ski resorts closer to Geneva by offering at unbeatable prices the easySki packages including “Bus transportation & ski pass” departing from Geneva. These packs, which do not include any course, are open to everyone with no obligation to take any other activities. First prices from just CHF 69 for one ski-day in Les Diablerets, for example!
To reduce the cost of courses for families, the Swiss Ski School of Geneva actively seeks subsidies from Geneva’s local authorities, which then pay part of the registration fees.
